Football Positions Guide

Quarterback (QB)

Leader of the offense. Receives the snap, throws passes, hands off to running backs, and can run with the ball.

Running Back (RB)

Primary ball carrier who runs with the football and helps protect the quarterback.

Wide Receiver (WR)

Catches passes and blocks for running plays downfield.

Tight End (TE)

Hybrid position that combines receiving and blocking duties.

Offensive Tackle (OT)

Protects the quarterback and creates running lanes.

Offensive Guard (OG)

Interior lineman who protects the quarterback and blocks for runs.

Center (C)

Snaps the ball to the quarterback and leads the offensive line.
